Economic development has not been a major focus for the City of Normandy Park in the past. The limited commercial/retail business in Normandy Park means the City depends more on property taxes and other revenue sources. Redevelopment along 1st Avenue has the potential to generate more sales and use taxes, property taxes and provide residents of Normandy Park with convenient shopping.
It is also important to recognize the need to preserve the character of the community as decisions are made regarding redevelopment along 1st Avenue South.
